Summer to Fall Routines

Students and teachers have been busy these past 2 weeks, as everybody settles into new classes, new routines and a new school year!

Both BASES classrooms and The Learning Support BASES Centre have been a flurry of activity!

Some of the Highlights include:

*regular morning routines of lockers, checking schedules and turning in homework assignments

*continuation of Numeracy and Literacy assignments

NEW ADDITIONS to our program have been:

*Current Events/Affairs

Students discovered a theme emerging from our daily newspaper reading.  They read about 4 NEW Guinness Book of World Record achievements

-Did you know that a 96 year old Ontario woman holds the record for the oldest living yoga teacher?

OR

-that Surrey's very own Port Mann Bridge's record breaking width is greater than that of Australia's Sydney Harbour Bridge!

AND

-that Cloverdale's Millennium Amphitheatre Park attempted to enter the Guinness Book of World Records by forming the world's largest human peace sign

We sure enjoy CURRENT AFFAIRS!

*Also, students have chosen some fun journal writing topics from our Journal Jar.  We will be posting some great pieces of writing in the near future.

*We have gotten to know one another better during Social Circles

*We are so fortunate to have 5 peer tutors working in our classrooms throughout the day.  We will feature them in our next Blog post.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

*Weekly Science experiments, beginning with BLOBS in a BOTTLE

*Roots of Empathy

*Postcrossing from around the World

We certainly are busy and our days seem to fly by!

Stay Connected with us as we continue to build a SOLID BASES!
